A dozen new COVID-19 cases in the Rainy River district

The Northwestern Health Unit now has 19 active cases, compared with four in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

KENORA, Ont. — COVID-19 continues to be a more serious problem in the District of Rainy River than in any other part of Northwestern Ontario.

The Northwestern Health Unit on Monday reported 12 new positive cases in that area.

Rainy River district has three times the number of active cases in the Thunder Bay district, but has less than one-seventh of the Thunder Bay district’s population.

The NWHU also reported five new positive COVID-19 test results in the Kenora region.

There are currently 19 active cases in the Northwestern Health Unit’s entire catchment area, but only four active cases in the catchment area of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
