A week-old seagull was airlifted back to its mother.
THUNDER BAY — Local businesses came to the rescue of a baby bird after its potentially catastrophic fall from a rooftop nest.
The one-week-old seagull plummeted Monday about 30 feet from the top of Prezio Electric on Alloy Place.
It was found wandering next door outside the pickup area of Gear Up For Outdoors.
Company co-owner Sandra Wynn, who’s an advocate for animal welfare, enlisted the aid of United Rentals across the street from Gear Up For Outdoors.
United Rentals mobilized one of its platform boom lifts to hoist the bird back to its anxious mother.
As soon as it got up there, she skittled over to her nest,” Jon Wynn of Gear Up For Outdoors said. “It was awesome.”
