War update: Ukrainian forces repel enemy attacks in Kupiansk, Avdiivka sectors

Ukraine’s defense forces have successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Kupiansk and Avdiivka sectors, with about 28 combat engagements recorded on the front line on Monday.According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a situation update as of 18:00 on Monday, August 7.

In the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors, Ukraine’s defense forces continue to conduct an offensive operation, entrenching themselves on the achieved lines and carrying out counter-battery measures.

In the last 24 hours, Ukrainian aircraft launched nine strikes on areas where Russian military personnel, weapons and hardware were concentrated.

For their part, units of Ukrainian rocket forces and artillery hit two enemy command posts, an area of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment, five artillery pieces and a radar station.

In total, Russian troops carried out two missile strikes, 33 air strikes, as well as 50 MLRS attacks on the positions of the defense forces and populated areas. Civilian casualties were recorded as a result of enemy attacks.

The General Staff said that the probability of the Russians carrying out missile and air strikes on targets across Ukraine remains high.

On the Volyn and Polissia axis, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axis, Russian troops shelled more than 25 settlements with mortars and artillery, including Mykhalchyna Sloboda and Hrynivka in the Chernihiv region, Basivka, Stepok and Pavlivka in the Sumy region, as well as Udy, Okhrimivka and Neskuchne in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian forces are on the defensive. They successfully repelled Russian attacks near Synkivka and north of Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, as well as south of Novoselivske in the Luhansk region.

More than ten settlements in this area of the front came under mortar and artillery fire, including Dvorichna, Zapadne, Krasne Pershe, Petropavlivka and Kupiansk Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region. The invaders attacked Kruhliakivka and Kucherivka in the Kharkiv region from aircraft.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army shelled Kuzmyne and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Verkhniokamianske, Spirne and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Russians conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Andriivka, Kurdiumivka and Druzhba in the Donetsk region. More than ten settlements, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove and Chasiv Yar came under enemy artillery fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, under heavy fire from the invaders’ aircraft and artillery, Ukraine’s defense forces successfully repelled attacks in the Avdiivka area. The settlements of Nevelske, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Novokalynove and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region were hit by enemy artillery.

In the Marinka sector, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Marinka area. There, the invaders launched an air strike.

Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region were hit by Russian artillery strikes.

In the Shakhtarske sector, Russian troops launched an air strike in the Odradne area in the Donetsk region. They also fired artillery on Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, the Russians conducted unsuccessful offensives in the Robotyne area of the Zaporizhzhia region, with artillery attacking more than ten settlements, including Novodarivka, Levadne, Komyshuvakha, Orikhiv and Piatykhatky in the Zaporizhzhia region and Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The invaders carried out air strikes outside Huliaipilske, Mala Tokmachka and Orikhiv.

In the Kherson sector, the Russian army launched an air strike near Odradokamianka, Kherson region, and fired artillery at more than ten settlements, including Olhivka, Sadove, Kherson and Kizomys of the Kherson region.
