Chornomorsk port expects five more ships to be loaded with grain

The port of Chornomorsk expects five more dry cargo ships to arrive and be loaded with Ukrainian grain for export.

“Today we expect five ships to arrive in the port of Chornomorsk. This is the highest indicator over the operation of the ‘grain corridor’. We need to maintain such pace in order to reach a monthly transshipment volume of more than 3 million tonnes with an intensity of about 100 ships per month,” said Oleksiy Vostrikov, Head of SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, USPA posted on Facebook.

According to him, the USPA team works for result as it deals with ships as quickly as possible and safely sends food caravans. But the main goal is to increase the grain corridor’s intensity at the ports’ entrance.

The USPA stated that the largest caravan of five ships had left the ports on August 16, and the same caravan was expected to arrive today to be loaded with more than 70,000 tonnes of wheat, bran, sunflower oil, and corn.

In total, 24 ships left Ukrainian ports within 17 days of operation of the grain corridor as part of the implementation of the initiative on safe transportation of grain and foodstuffs.

As reported, two documents were signed in Istanbul on July 22 with the participation of Ukraine, the UN, Turkey, and Russia on the creation of a corridor for grain export from three ports in the Ukrainian territory – Chornomorsk, Odesa, and Pivdenny.
