Possible COVID-19 risk related to Emo grocery store

The Northwestern Health Unit has issued an advisory to people who shopped at a supermarket in Emo over a period of three days this month.

In a statement Monday, the NWHU said “there is a very small chance” that individuals who were in the Cloverleaf Grocery between Dec. 18 and Dec. 20 were exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

The statement said NWHU staff are working closely with store management to ensure all precautions are being taken.

“The risk is very remote based on the information we have from a recent case in the Rainy River District, but out of an abundance of caution we are sharing this information with the public,” said NWHU Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon.

She said anyone who was in Cloverleaf Grocery on Dec. 18, 19 or 20 should self-monitor for symptoms.

Anyone with symptoms should self-isolate immediately and arrange for testing at the local assessment centre.

A post on the store’s Facebook page stated that some of its staff are currently in quarantine.

Emo is about 34 kilometres west of Fort Frances.
